Intro:
Fans, fans, fans. Can you ever have enough fans? I think the
answer would be NO, to that. Well, how about this? Other color LED fans! Yup,
orange, and even now white are making way into the modding scene. Do they look
cool? Oh, hell ya! You know you want to read this brief review with pretty
pictures. Don't you? Continue on as I look at the newest LED fans that Jab-Tech
has in stock...
The box and packaging:
As always, while same may think that I am fluffing the
review, good shipping is an integral part of the buying experience. Everything I
have ever received in review samples, or ordered from Jab-Tech have been in
excellent shape. Thanks to good packing, and well, USPS seems better in my area
that UPS. You may have a different experience, if so, stick with UPS. :)
Below in pictures 2 and 3, we seen the front and back of the
newest Galaxy Quad LED fans. The back has some of the specs, which I'll put in a
table below for you. There is no real departure from the ordinary here. The same
packaging, the same labeling, and the mysterious "cre-air" as a sticker on the
fan. Good luck trying to find that potentially made up company. Anyway...
The specs:
| Dimensions: |
80x80x25mm |
| Air flow: |
32.5 CFM |
| Speed: |
2500 RPM |
| Power: |
1.6 Watts |
| Current: |

A closer look:
As usually seen, the Galaxy fans come with everything you
need. They are 3 pin fans by default, but they do come with the ever so popular
3 pin to 4 pin Molex connector to power off of your PSU. And as usual, they
seemed to have left the 3 pin monitoring pin still in the adapter. I've
complained before, that that could have a detrimental effect if that little
extra piece of metal hanging out were to touch something perhaps on your
motherboard. But I guess Galaxy doesn't read my reviews. Oh well.

I do however, like
the fact that the fan has 4 mounting screws included. While some of you
may have some extra, others may not, and to me, that helps round out the plug
and play experience. How I hate to use that term but... Lastly, Kudos again for
attaching a fan grill. Those cost a buck on some online shops. Here, they are
already included. :)
Of course back again, is the ugly, I guess, white strip
around the fans that protect the LED's. That kind of kills the aesthetics
depending on what angle you are looking at the fan from.

Light it up:
Well, here you go. Below you can see the white fans from two
different angles. While for the sake of the review length, and me perhaps being
lazy, I will not be mounting these in a case at this time. Instead, let me give you my
personal opinion. These fans are bright, and would look great in your case, or
even more so, in a nice window that has support for an 80mm fan. Take a
peep at the pictures below already! :) Nice huh?

The camera seems to shift perhaps the orange a bit more to
the red side. By now means is that a bad thing I think. Except for maybe my
camera. Those are as true to life as I could produce. In a lighted environment,
they are really more orange looking than in a dark environment. But who sits in
the light all day long? We want to see how it looks in the dark... Once again,
look above, look below...

Summary:
New colors? Yup, here they are. Just to prove how orange the
orange is, look below in the "extra pictures" section. I really had no
comparison to white, other than a light bulb, so I'll skip that. Let me say that the orange does
look much more stunning in person, as well as the white. Digital cameras cannot
reproduce what you are likely to see in person, but take my word for it. If you
are looking for a bit of different from the normal lighting for some case fans,
these are it. These are, really sweet. :) I can see a case decked out with either
of these bad boys, or, if you have a good heatsink, one of these fans would look
very slick showing through a window contrasting any other kind of fans you have
in your box.

LED fans!" |
Extra pictures:
I'll be comparing the orange fan to a UV LED fan. As you can
see below in the two shots, the orange is really as orange as what an orange UV
reactive fan would be. Comparing the fans next to other colors of LED fans
seemed a bit redundant, as I looked later at the other pictures I took. So,
enjoy the two shots below, I guess...
